W eek 1 of the college football season is in the books & it was pretty intense, y'all!  Yesterday reminded us that the level of success we've become accustomed to isn't as easy to maintain as us Bammers like to think.  I got scared early and often.  But while all you kids play armchair quarterback & dissect every play, I thought I'd lighten the mood and give you my Chaotic Climaxes of the weekend. THE REDEMPTION : Who can forget Adam Griffith's missed field goal to close the regular season last year? If you watch ESPN, The SEC Network, listen to JOX, or use any form of social media, you're reminded many more times than you'd ever care to be.  So when he went 4 for 4 last night, I was like, "heck yeah!".  I feel like it's a major victory anytime I don't fall down the stairs in the stadium, so thinking about the intense pressure that kid has makes me agoraphobic.  The future is bright for Adam & us Bammers dese...

I 've never been big on reunions.  I figure, if I haven't looked you up for this long then why would I want to see you?  I missed our 5th year reunion.  I was still in college & trying to 'find myself'.  I missed our 10 year reunion because most everyone had little kids they wanted to show off & nothing about passing around strange kids all weekend sounded appealing.  But when my childhood best friend sent the notification earlier this year about the 20 year celebration, I was skeptical but interested. Let's face it, the times of going to class reunions for the sheer purpose of seeing the skinny bitch in high school in a size 18 mumu are over.  Isn't that why we're on Facebook?  I guess at the ripe old age of 37, I was just ready to see some of the faces of the people of my childhood.  Don't get me wrong, there's a couple of girls I couldn't stand that I thought were going & aren't FB friends.... So the mumu motivation wasn...

I won't lie.  I screen calls.  If I don't know the number, 9 times out of 10 I won't answer.  However, sometimes this decision likes to screw with me immensely.  On July 2nd, 2010, I was busily preparing for a 4th of July weekend on the lake!  The 4th fell on the following Monday so I shut down my day job of pushing drugs early to pack up & beat the traffic.  Just before lunch, my phone rang....  It was a number I didn't recognize & I was too busy picking out which bathing suits & outfits to pack for a weekend at Lay Lake.  As I was deciding which suits to sport for the momentous occasion, the number kept nagging at me.  I knew the prefix.  348... 348...  HOLY SHIT! That's the University number!  Keep in mind, this is long before my sister brought a coach into the family so I was cautiously optimistic that my 4 year wait had finally paid off because at the time who the heck else would call me from The Capstone?...

Y ep!  It's that time of year again...  This Sunday will be The University of Alabama's annual Fan Day.  Gumps far and wide will flock to Bryant Denny Stadium to watch an open practice from 2:30-4:30.  But let's not kid ourselves...  These people, dressed in their favorite Wal-Mart jerseys, are there to get a chance to meet the man himself.  After practice, Coach Nick Saban, along with his staff & players, will be available for 45 minutes to sign autographs for Bama's finest.  RMFT, y'all!!! Whether it's a mother handing over her infant for Nick Saban to sign or a few 350 pound armchair quarterbacks recording their best 40 time in years, The Running Of The Gumps never fails to disappoint.  It could be 140 degrees on a miserable August day in Alabama, but I can personally guarantee at least 500 sweaty Bammers will be waiting hours before the gates open to get a glimpse of greatness.  Don't get me wrong...  I love that our foot...

Earlier today, news broke that The Crimson Tide had finalized plans to meet up with USC in 2016.  HELL YES!!! I was all like OMG!  HOW FREAKING EXCITING!!!  Two of the most storied programs... Two dynasties...  It's about dang time!!!  Of course as I read on, I realized it was yet another neutral site game.  Well crap... I've been to several of the neutral site games.  Come to think of it, I guess I've only missed one.  2009 Va Tech- check.  2012 Michigan- I was there.  2013 Va Tech- present.  When we first started doing this, I actually loved this concept!  It has always been a great trip & I hear it really helps with recruiting. However, I'm officially sick of it.  I realize that a trip to the ATL is easy & can make for a fabulous weekend.  I understand experiencing a state of the art facility like Jerry World is pretty awesome.  I get all that...  But I'm sick of Atlanta & I almo...

Tomorrow is a very big day in all things Crimson Chaos...  My pride & joy, my best friend, my baby sister begins her career as a Registered Nurse at DCH's Cardiac Care Unit.  Typing those words seems so surreal to me because I could swear it was just last year I was wiping the tears off her cheeks because she literally loved her bunny to death.  Wasn't it just last week I was making the drive to watch her take to the sidelines to cheer? The little girl I used to bribe to be in pageants (only to win most of the time)... The little sister who used to crawl to my bedroom almost every night after her bath so those chubby legs could crawl up to sit on my bed & pee on it...  That little girl may save your life or maybe someone's life that means even  more to you than your own starting tomorrow.
