Auburn's Latest Little Brother Move

Image
A uburn has been really busy lately, y'all!  After an exhausting few weeks of back claiming national championships, they took a break to remind us all that they are still Bama's little brother.  While preparing for Big Cat Weekend, the AU grounds crew decided to track Chris Davis' path during his game winning touchdown run in last year's Iron Bowl. These kinda gimmicky moves define the auburn program.  And this is another glaring example of how different the 2 major athletic programs in this state really are.  You know the old cliche' by now... Alabama wants to win championships.  auburn just wants to beat Alabama.  Tide fans would still be in a severe depression had we been the program to break the SEC National Championship streak.  We'd still be utterly humiliated if we were the only SEC program to lose a national championship game in the entire BCS era.  Not auburn.  They never blinked an eye because they beat Bama. In the spring following Bama's c

Whoa: Intense Suicide Survival Post I Found

Image
For the first time ever, I was so moved by a blog post that I had to make my own just to make sure as many people see it as possible.  I am always moved when someone speaks publicly about suicide...  But there was something about this story that really affected me.  Please take a moment and read: The Suicide Bandage "But either way, I miss him.  So damn much it makes my heart cry sometimes.  So much that I want to climb onto my roof and scream at the heavens.  So much I feel like I could double over sometimes and just sleep forever.  But the reality is, he is forever a part of my legacy.  Every word I type to this day is partly driven by my love for him & my desire to keep who he was alive.  Every time something surreal or lovely happens, I can hear his laugh. This beautiful laugh that just filled the room.  The laugh that is so clear to me even now.  I am bawling like a child as I write this and can still hear it like music in my head" I would give anything to h

Bama Baseball Heads to Tallahasee: They Scrong!

Image
Bama Baseball is headed to Tallahassee for the NCAA Regionals as a 2 seed in the 4-team, double-elimination event.  Bama Bats will face off against Kennesaw State on Friday while The Famous Jameis FSU Seminoles take on Georgia Southern.  Bama's dominant start in SEC play helped them climb all the way up in the rankings to #8, but a brutal back half of the schedule left them beat up, beat down, & beat out.  After a one & done performance at the SEC Championship Series last week, the Tide goes into the series with a .278 batting average which is among the upper half of the SEC.  And with 10 SEC teams making it in, that speaks volumes. *auburn & tennessee did not. LOLOLOLOLOLOL* Now the big question is who's on the mound Friday?  Care to take a guess..... I think Bama will surprise people this weekend.  I'm scrong! Like, they scrong! Are you scrong? WE SCRONG!!! ROLL TIDE! ROLL BAMA BATS!

Righting A Wrong: Derrick Thomas Inducted Into College Football Hall Of Fame.... Finally

Image
I can now lift my boycott on visiting the the new College Football Hall of Fame in the ATL.  Until today, I couldn't even take them seriously.  How could you after snubbing Derrick Thomas???  Of course, The University of Alabama should be accustomed to the tradition of overlooking some of the greatest college football players EVVA.  Joe Namath, Kenny Stabler, Antonio Langham, Bob Baumhower, & Shaun Alexander are still waiting for their induction. However, after being eligible for 16 years, Derrick Thomas has finally been inducted!  One of the best defensive players of my generation has finally gotten the respect he deserved long ago.  In 1988, he got over twice as many sacks as Brodie Croyle suffered during a single game in 2005. The list of awards Thomas acquired during his time at The Capstone is actually pretty damn impressive: 1988~ SEC Defensive Player of the Year 1988~ Dick Butkus Award 1988~ Finished 10th in Heisman voting behind names such as Barry Sanders

Out With The Old, In With The New

Image
T he University of Alabama Baseball Team beat Mississippi State yesterday in a nail biter giving us a lot of momentum going into this week's SEC Tournament.  But more importantly, they gave Sewell-Thomas Stadium a win in the last game to be played in the stadium as we know it.  Though there has been much success in the stadium we lovingly call, 'The Joe', lack of renovations have caused the Crimson Tide to fall behind almost every other school in the conference. In the coming days, a $35 million renovation project will begin on the baseball facilities.  And though some of the existing structures will be utilized, for all intents & purposes this will be a brand new stadium!  Some of the new amenities will include: A free-standing indoor hitting facility  The field will be rotated 5 degrees creating new sight lines so people can actually see plays happening down the right field line Luxury suites Inside concession stands so we won't have to miss anothe

Tinder: How Safe Is It?

Image
Another day... Another rogue app... While I admittedly don't know much at all about the popular new app named Tinder, I've come to have a serious problem with it. And you should, too.  From what I gather, it's basically another dating app with a twist.  From wikipedia: Using Facebook profiles, Tinder gathers users' basic information and analyzes users' social graph to match potential candidates who are most likely to be compatible based on geographical location , number of mutual friends and common interests. Based on the results of potential candidates, the app allows the user to anonymously like or pass them. If two users like each other then it results in a "match" and Tinder introduces the two users and opens a chat. How awesome does that sound?  Except, think of all the people who have access to your facebook pictures.  Just today, I learned that my sister has received numerous screenshots from people who have ran across a girl calling hers

2014 NFL Draft

Image
S ince Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban's arrival to The Capstone in 2007, Bama has gotten pretty good at breaking records.  Tomorrow night's NFL draft is expected to give The Tide yet another.  For 5 straight years, Bama has had a player become a top 10 draft selection that is only matched by USC for the most by any college program.  C.J. Mosley is likely to knock the Trojans out of that spot tomorrow night. People continue to be amazed at the recruiting classes Saban has been putting together at The University of Alabama.  How can one team keep signing so much depth at almost every key position? Well, the answer is simple.  These kids want to sign with a program that will give them the best chance to get to the NFL.  And Saban's resume' speaks for itself. Arriving in January of 2007, many players on this team were inherited by Mike Shula.  And when draft day 2008 rolled around, it showed.  No players sporting Crimson were drafted that year; extending the
