An Open Letter To Bill Battle...

Image
D ear Coach Battle; As a small-time booster and a big-time Bama fan, I'm writing you today because I need your help.  As a Bear Bryant disciple and highly successful business man, I truly believe you can fix this problem.  Various media members, both state & national, as well as opposing fanbases are accusing us of being fair-weather fans.  This is largely due to the lack of fan support around The University of Alabama Basketball Program this season.   I'm sure you've noticed that Coleman Coliseum has become a bit of a ghost town this year.  Many fans don't even bother tuning in to watch the games that actually get aired anymore.    And contrary to what some are saying, it isn't because we are spoiled by our football success.  It isn't because we only support winning programs either.  Bama Hoops fans have just given up hope.  With a losing record and ZERO road wins in Anthony Grant's 5th year as head coach, you would have to search f

3 Reasons To Watch Bama Baseball This Season!

Image
C olor me impressed!  Recently, I found a new Bama sport to obsess over.  I know... Shocking.  However, The University of Alabama Baseball program has it going on this year!!! After attending several games at "The Joe" this season, I've been blown away by the fan friendly experience.  And you don't have to be an avid baseball fan to enjoy a day at the ballpark in Tuscaloosa these days!  Here's 3 reasons why every Bama fan should come experience some Bama Baseball this season: THE NEW FREE SEATING Backed up against the new Sarah Patterson Champions Plaza is a new terraced picnic area.  Fans can now watch our boys from right field free of charge! And that isn't the best part.  Prefer having an adult beverage... Or 3 while watching your baseball?  You're in luck.  It's totally okay here.  So whether you like to grab a few friends & ice down a cooler of beer on Friday night or maybe enjoy a few mimosas on a gorgeous Alabama Saturday afternoon,

It's World Encephalitis Day. You May Wanna Read This.

Happy World Encephalitis Day!!! Except there's nothing happy about Encephalitis.  Before last December, I couldn't tell you the first thing about it.  Later on, I learned most doctors can't either.  But you aren't immune.  Your children aren't immune.  Nobody is immune from this devil virus.  It doesn't discriminate and nobody is safe.  And if you or somebody you love gets the misfortune of contracting encephalitis... Well, odds are your lives will be changed forever. "You've never heard of encephalitis?  Well, I hadn't either... Until I was left  with a permanent brain injury" The scariest part of encephalitis is that nobody knows anything about it.  It's virtually impossible to do trials on it because it's so rare, an adequate number of subjects is almost impossible.  I know what you're thinking.  I'd think the same.  Such a rare disease would never affect me & this is just some blogger venting.  And most likel

Will Bama Hire Bruce Pearl? Maybe...

Image
T he future of Alabama Basketball & more specifically, Anthony Grant, has become a hot topic lately. As losses keep piling up, it is becoming harder & harder to find Grant supporters. The program's record after last night's loss to Texas A&M is it's worst in 43 years of play.  So it's quickly becoming more of a question of who will replace Grant next season rather than will he be fired. It's widely known that I've wanted Bruce Pearl at Alabama for the past 2 seasons.  Though the bandwagon was pretty lonely for awhile, it's quickly becoming overloaded with supporters.  And contrary to what you may read on the internet, Bama hiring Pearl is a very real possibility.  With that being said, I decided to clear up the misconceptions around the Bruce Pearl debate. I.  Alabama Will Not Even Consider Bruce Pearl False.  Whether it be auburn getting sanctioned for buying quarterbacks or Bama never hiring someone like Lane Kiffin, at some point

NTY: There's Nothing Humane About It

Image
I t didn't take a psychic to predict that given this week's headlines surrounding the recruitment of Rashaan Evans, auburn spin machine Never To Yield Foundation would write a rebuttal.  Earlier this morning they published, "Oh The Humanity" defending the auburn fans who have tormented the Evans family since National Signing Day.  In case you aren't familiar with this site, it was established, "to promote the positive image of Auburn University, its students, its alumni and its fans".  It's secondary mission is, "to help combat the negativity that is directed at Auburn by its detractors, by the media and by anyone else who seeks to do our family harm".  Translation for those who don't speak cult:  It's a website who's goal is to pump sunshine up auburn fan's asses while attacking anyone who dares to speak ill of anything orange & blue.  Though their posts are often extremely long & boring enough to induce you

For my fellow sports addicts looking for the perfect card for Valentine's Day... You're welcome....

When A Rivalry Goes Too Far

Image
A lot of attention has been brought to the backlash felt by Rashaan Evans since choosing to attend The University of Alabama over auburn.  Monday night, Andrew Bone of Tidesports.com published a damning article detailing troubles the Evans family have endured since National Signing Day.  A short time later, auburnsports.com writer, Justin Hokanson, fired back with a completely ridiculous rebuttal arguing that treating 17-18 year old boys so abhorrently is normal.  He & fellow moderator, Jay Tate, discussed Hokanson's motives on a message board associated with auburnsports.com known as the bunker: Click on picture to enlarge Mr. Hokanson, there is something very wrong with GROWN MEN & WOMEN taking to social media & message boards attacking a kid & his family.  Rather than competing in a pissing contest with Bone, Hokanson's time would've been better spent trying to address this disturbing problem.  Instead, he let his little brother syndrome g

Time to Show Anthony Grant The Door

Image
The Alabama basketball team takes to the court this morning to face & almost inevitably lose to No. 3 Florida.  Longtime ESPN analyst, Dick Vitale, will be sitting courtside breaking down the atrocity that has become the Crimson Tide basketball program.  When asked about what Grant could do to get the program on the right track, Vitale responded that Anthony Grant is a good coach but has limited personnel.  He went on to say, "I know Anthony Grant. He's a good person too. But limited personnel ... you've got to have players. You can't win without talent". Captain Obvious's assessment was correct.  However, a coach making almost 2 million bucks a year for the past 5 years has absolutely zero excuses for his 'limited personnel'.  I'm fairly certain I could do a better job in recruiting than Grant has done since he's been in Tuscaloosa.  Couple that with the player attrition, & you get a program that may very well finish dead last in the

The Recruitment of Elisha Shaw

Image
A nother signing day has come & gone.  And in what has become the norm, Alabama has the #1 recruiting class, signing phenoms like Bo Scarbrough & Rashaan Evans.  Rival fanbases have already begun the annual discussions of which players on Saban's roster will be "processed" to make room for all the incoming 5 stars.  Ya know... Because the leader of the evil empire doesn't care about players.  He only cares about winning. While ESPN is ooing & awing over what might possibly be the best signing class ever, the best story of National Signing Day has gone virtually unmentioned.  The story of Elisha Shaw.  Outside of my fellow recruiting junkies, I doubt anyone's even heard his name.  At one time, Shaw was one of the top defensive tackle prospects in the nation.  With 17 scholarship offers on the table, programs like Georgia, auburn, & Florida State were all fighting for him.  But Shaw's situation changed drastically when he suffered a severe ne

Saban Trolls Auburn... Again

Image
N obody loves trolling the auburn fanbase more than me.  But University of Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban has downright mastered the art.  Earlier today, auburn university was so confident that auburn native Rashaan Evans would be wearing orange & blue, they had a major case of premature posting on the university's website: Oops. A short time later Evans, the No. 2 outside linebacker in the ESPN 300, informed everyone that he will be taking his talent to Tuscaloosa .  Until just recently, Evans had been considered an auburn lock.  But never underestimate Nick Saban & Kirby Smart.  The recruiting battle began really heating up last month & culminated over the weekend when coaching staffs from both Alabama & auburn attended Evans' grandfather's birthday party.  Though it has been widely reported that both staffs were extremely cordial, you know that had to be awkward as hell!  In the end, Kirby Smart showed off his mad closing skills & con

Bruce Pearl Looks Good In Crimson

Image
W hile Anthony Grant was busy finding new and innovative ways to lose basketball games Saturday night, a small crowd in Coleman Coliseum decided to send a message. Finally fed up with a man who cannot coach & has the roster management abilities of my granny, they began to chant, "We Want Bruce!"...  It's about dang time, y'all!!!  Two years ago I jumped on the Bruce Pearl to Alabama bandwagon. I won't lie. It was a lonely ride for quite awhile.  Pearl's NCAA show-cause penalty had most fans reacting to my grassroots campaign about as well as a man named Tom trying to sell you a suit.  But the Tide's turning, my Bama brethren.  Recently, there has been a groundswell of support for kicking Grant to the curb & hiring the prodigal Pearl.  And contrary to what the naysayers will tell you, hiring Bruce Pearl is a very real possibility. First of all, what are the restrictions surrounding Bruce Pearl exactly?  A show cause penalty -- usually with set d
