A Message To All The Dead Beat Dads....

Image
So many of us have been cursed with dead beat dads.  Have you ever wondered what they think of on Father's Day?  I know the easy answer is that POS fathers don't think about things like that.  But I tend to disagree.  I wonder if they think of the effect they had on the children they left behind.  I wonder if Father's Day is a day of misery for men who can't handle their responsibilities... I have had a dog for the past 14 years.  I love that crazy animal so much.  I spoil her rotten & I always put her at the front of my mind when making plans.  I can't leave Lex dog alone too long & I have to make time to walk her!  I forgot to fill her water bowl the other day & felt like a complete loser at life for hours.  She was thirsty!  How could I forget one of the easiest tasks I have in being mommy to a furbaby? So I can't help but wonder what men who walk away from their children feel today?  Do they feel shame?  Do they feel remorse?  I beat mysel

Tyrone Prothro Is Still A Beast!!!

Image
I remember it like it was yesterday...  In September of 2005, I took my baby sister to Bryant Denny Stadium for the first time ever.  It was before I was blessed to have season tickets so an opponent like Southern Miss enabled a struggling early twenty-something gal to afford tickets for me & my baby girl!  I never dreamed it would be one of the top 5 games I'd ever attend at The Capstone. Tyrone Prothro was the player who started my love affair with #4.  He was the type player I'd have watched no matter what jersey he wore.  The fact that he wore Crimson made it so much sweeter, though.  On that perfect Saturday in September, I was blessed to watch what would be later awarded "Play of the Year" at ESPN's ESPY Awards.  While trailing Southern Miss (something not uncommon under the Shula regime), Prothro showed off his acrobatic moves when he caught a pass over the head & on the back of a Southern Miss defender.  It was epic...  It changed the momentum

Another Suicide Survivor's Story- One Voice Matters

Image
Yet again, I found a blog post about suicide that captured things I've always tried to say.  I just didn't have the talent & mental fortitude to do so...  Thanks to  @BrooklynMims for sending this to me!!! "Suicide is not a choice to die, but rather an expression of the deepest human desire to survive"... I had never seen this quote until tonight.  I had never read a perspective from a suicide survivor that is so similar to mine until tonight.  I'm sure if you cared enough to click on this post, you know my story.  But for those who don't, I had someone I love very much put a gun to his head last April.  He had suffered from encephalitis & meningitis & it resulted in an acquired brain injury.  His neurologist was in complete shock when I contacted him about Kev's fate.  As with all suicide survivors, we forever search for answers... We are constantly looking for someone who understands.  This girl 'gets it'... Please take a m

Ole Miss To Omaha...

Image
I 'm sure y'all remember this horrendous picture of me on Sunday Funday celebrating Bama Bats sweeping Ole Miss...  Yes,  I realize how bad my form is. I can't lie that it stings quite a bit knowing the team we swept is going to Omaha.  After suffering through the Sugar Bowl, all things Anthony Grant, & a heartbreaking end to our baseball season, I can't tell you how ready I am for football season.....

Let It Rain....

Image
I t always rains on the 7th.  I usually hate it when it rains.  My hair's a mess, my feet get wet, & people lose any kind of driving abilities.  But on the 7th, I have come to expect the rain...  It's an old friend stopping by to say hello.  On the 7th of every month, I know the rain will come down.  I let it hit my face & it feels so good.  With each drop, I can't help but laugh.... Kevin was always quite the prankster....

MLB Draft Showing Bama Baseball Players The Money

Image
B ama's Baseball season may have come to an end but some of their players are still making waves in this week's Major League Baseball Draft!  Right handed pitcher, Spencer Turnbull, was the 63rd overall pick in the MLB Draft earlier this week when the Detroit Tigers selected him in the 2nd round.  He is the highest drafted Crimson Tide player since 2006 when Wade LeBlanc was the 61st pick by the Sand Diego Padres.   According to BaseballAmerica, the bonus allotment for the 63rd pick is roughly $900,000.  And with the lack of offensive help he got late in the season, Red Bull has earned every dime of it!! With the 254th overall pick, teammate Ben Moore was selected as a catcher for The Boston Red Sox. Moore led the team with 9 home runs this season which has tied him for the third most home runs in the SEC.  He also led the team in stolen bases.  The draft signing allotment for the 254th spot is roughly $150,000.  As a Junior, Moore has the opportunity to come back for

Confession: I'm A Huge Les Miles Fan

H ow can you not love a man who has some of the most epic quotes since Yogi Berra.  Some of his quotes are so mind-blowingly hilarious, websites & twitter accounts have been created just to honor them.  Here's some of my absolute favorites: "When I wake up in the morning and I turn that film on, it's like reading a book and it's exciting! I don't read books, but if I did read books it would be like reading a book". "Just want to remind everyone it's Columbus Day.  All those of you that know Italians, & like Italians, or the people that might venture onto a ship and travel, to explore and find new lands, this is your day.  So it's not St. Paddy's Day.  That's a different day entirely". I really can't understand most anything he tries to say but I try to never miss it when he does.  When rumors swirled that he was headed to Michigan, I straight up panicked.  No.... Not because he's another notch in Saban's be

Bama Baseball Robbed Of Chance To Win Championship

Image
F ive hours after Bama went down in the Tallahassee Regional Championship to Kennesaw State & I'm still ticked off.  After Bama Bats came out flat in game 1 of the tournament, they rallied & made a phenomenal (and sometimes horrifying) run to make it to today's championship that would send them to the Super Regionals.  Pitchers Justin Kamplain & Geoffrey Bramblett had pitched complete games putting Bama in a great position to clinch today's win.  Bama struggled offensively against KSU pitcher Travis Bergen going down 1-0 early in the game.  But heading into the 9th, this Bama team did what we've seen them do several times before & rallied to give them a chance to come out on top.  Trailing 4-2 & just 1 out, a walk by Ben Moore & a single by Wade Wass put the tying runs on the board.  However, they got a 2nd out when Austen Smith popped out to 1st base leaving the fate of the season in the hands of Kyle Overstreet.  He was called out & B
